Hakimpur, Punjab

Hakimpur is a village ("Pind" in Punjabi) 22 km from the city of Phagwara within the Doaba region of Punjab in India. This village is in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (Formerly Nawanshahr District), close to the boundary of Jullunder district. The closest towns are Mukandpur, and Apra. The City of Banga, India is about 10 km from the village. The Jatt clan of Korpal (sometimes written as "Corpal") and Sanger clan of Kumhar (sometimes written as "Ghumar") reside in this village. A large Gurudwara (Sikh Temple) is present as you enter Hakimpur, with a Mandir (Hindu Temple) also present in the village.
==History==
The village was established in the 16th century (AD) and named after ''Mirza Hakim Bey'', who was a regiment commander during the reign of Hindustani Emperor Humayun. Mirza Hakim led a regiment of soldiers as reinforcement after the rule of Emperor Humayun was challenged by Sher Shah Suri of the Sur dynasty. After a successful military campaign by Humayun to regain lost territory, military commanders were given land to settle on. Mirza Hakim settled in Punjab on land which is present-day Hakimpur, Punjab.
